Slow Cooker Brioche Rolls using a Mary Berry Recipe

Slow Cooker Brioche Rolls using a Mary Berry Recipe

This post is about how I made slow cooker brioche rolls.
Brioche are rich sweet yeasted bread rolls from France.
Enriched with eggs and butter, to give them a soft and tender texture.

I based my method on my favourite brioche recipe, from my go-to Mary Berry cookbook.
As, with all of her recipes it is fool-proof and straight-forward.
With adjustments to the cooking method. I adapted it from an oven-baked recipe. To one that would work for a slow cooker.

Slow Cooker Brioche Rolls

The brioche recipe I used is from Mary Berry’s Complete Cookbook*.

As there wasn’t much liquid used in this recipe. I didn’t need to adapt the original recipe. So used the same method and amounts as stated in Mary Berry’s recipe.

I just needed to adapt the cooking times, to turn it into a slow cooker brioche rolls recipe.

Adjusting Oven Baked Recipe for the Slow Cooker

To cook these brioche rolls in the slow cooker, you need to place a piece of kitchen paper under the lid to absorb the excess water/steam. To ensure that they can brown properly.

Cook on High for one hour. After this time, turn the rolls over to brown the tops. Replacing the kitchen paper with a new dry piece. And wiping off any excess steam that may have collected on the lid. Then cook for a further 30 minutes. Until they are cooked through and golden brown.

By using a slow cooker with a metal inner pot, it is easy to brown the bread as it cooks in the slow cooker. You just need to remember to turn it, at some point during the cooking time. To allow the tops to brown as well. And use kitchen paper to absorb the steam.
