Introduction – Useful Information

The introduction of the Just 5 Slow Cooker book includes useful info on slow cooking in general. As well as tips on how to use this book with your own slow cooker. How to adapt the recipes and timings in the book to suit your needs. I particularly like the table that shows you how to adjust the timings given in a recipe. By changing the slow cooker setting, to easily adapt recipes to fit in with your own daily routine.

All of the slow cooker UK recipes rely on a basic every day store cupboard. Such as sugar, flour, stock, lemon, onions and garlic.

The introduction also includes 2 weekly planners with shopping lists. One for slow cooking on a budget. The other for special occasion slow cooking. Both of these weekly planners have a detailed shopping list of ingredients for 7 days of slow cooking. Along with a list of the store cupboard items you’ll need.

Plus the introduction has handy round-ups for 5 slow cooker recipe collections. Good for quick reference. Including Just 5 slow cooker recipes for:

  • Vegetarians.
  • Italian inspiration.
  • Meaty dishes.
  • Fruity dishes.
  • Easy breakfasts.
  • Fish and seafood.

Just 5 Slow Cooker Book Review

This is a very good slow cooker book for beginners. As it relies on a simple store cupboard. Plus a few extra ingredients. All of the items are readily available. And due to the nature of this book the shopping list for each of the 100 + recipes is very short.

The recipes are fully detailed and easy to follow. With photos of the main ingredients required. And a large clear image of the final dish. Each recipe also includes preparation and cooking times. However, this book doesn’t include nutritional values.

And most of the recipes include a variation on the main recipe, for even more choice.

Overall, this is an excellent choice for slow cooker beginners. As it covers the basics using a minimal shopping list. And there are plenty of recipes that show you how to use ready-made jar sauces in a slow cooker. Which are a great shortcut! This is definitely a very useful book, if you’re looking for easy no-fuss slow cooker recipes.
