Slow Cooker Sausagemeat Stuffing – Slow Cooker UK Recipe

Slow Cooker Sausagemeat Stuffing - Slow Cooker UK Recipe
This slow cooker sausagemeat stuffing recipe. Is made easy by using sausage meat as a shortcut. Then boosted in flavour with the addition of herbs, onions and mushrooms. No eggs needed as the squidgyness of the sausagemeat eliminates the need for this. Just add some breadcrumbs to bind it. And cooked in a slow cooker!

Slow Cooker Sausagemeat Stuffing – UK Recipe

This slow cooker stuffing would work well served as part of a roast chicken dinner. With roast chicken, roast potatoes, green veg and gravy. Or as a meaty snack, on its own with a dollop of tomato chutney or spicy ketchup!

Ingredients (4 servings)
  • 225 g sausage meat or (about 4) sausages, casings removed.
  • 125 g fresh breadcrumbs.
  • 2 spring onions, sliced.
  • 4 mushrooms, diced.
  • 1 celery, finely diced.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste.
  • 1 tsp mixed dried herbs.
  • Vegetable oil, for oiling the slow cooker pot.

I made this slow cooker Sausagemeat Stuffing recipe in a Morphy Richards Accents Sear and Stew 3.5 L Slow Cooker (See my review).

Method (Total Cooking Time: 2½ hours)
  1. Lightly grease your slow cooker pot – base and sides.
  2. Gently mix all of the rest of the ingredients together. This is done quickest and easily by just using your hands. Stop once properly combined, to avoid over mixing.
  3. Put the stuffing mix into the slow cooker pot, in one evenly spread layer. Cover with the lid and cook on High for 2 hours.
  4. Use oven gloves to lift out the slow cooker pot, turn out the stuffing onto a chopping board or large plate. (Large enough to hold the stuffing.) Then use a spatula to slide the stuffing back into the pot, this time top side down. So that you can brown the top. Then replace the lid and cook for a further 30 minutes or so. Until the sausage meat stuffing is completely cooked.
  5. Turn the slow cooker off and leave to rest for 20 minutes. Serve.
Recipe Notes
  1. Use stale bread to make the breadcrumbs. As this will work better to hold the stuffing together.
  2. Tweak this slow cooker recipe to your own taste, by adding other veggies or try different herbs.
