Slow Cooker Double Chocolate Loaf Cake with Cherry - UK Recipe
This slow cooker double chocolate loaf cake with cherry. Makes a soft and squidgy chocolate sponge cake. That can be made into a pared-down simplified version of a Black Forest gateaux. With the addition of whipped cream, more cherries and chocolate shavings!

Slow Cooker Double Chocolate Loaf Cake – UK Recipe

Ingredients
  • 100 g margarine.
  • 50 g soft light brown sugar.
  • 50 g white granulated sugar.
  • 1 medium egg.
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract.
  • 100 g plain flour.
  • 25 g cocoa powder.
  • ¾ tsp baking powder.
  • ½ tsp fine sea salt.
  • 75 g dark chocolate, chopped into small chunks.
  • 100 g fresh cherries, halved and stones removed.
Method
  1. Line a 500 g loaf tin with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the marg and sugars.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Slowly fold in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Until just combined.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chunks and cherries. Again, don’t over mix the batter.
  6. Pour the cake batter into the lined loaf tin.
  7. Cover loosely with a piece of lightly buttered foil.
  8. Place the tin into the slow cooker pot. Pour hot water around the tin, so that the loaf tin is half immersed in the water.
  9. Cover the slow cooker and cook on High for 3 hours.
  10. After 3 hours, test with a toothpick poked into the center. The cake is cooked through when the toothpick comes out clean of the batter.
Recipe Notes
  1. For a quick version of a Black Forest gateaux. Serve with whipped cream, more cherries and chocolate shavings.
  2. You can do this slow cooker chocolate loaf cake with frozen cherries. Though they won’t keep their shape as well as fresh ones. The taste will be just as good.
